Splendid Church LifeEver since I was young, I always knew that God existed, but I never had any thoughts or knowledge of who God was and what His heart's desire was all about. Never had I ever heard about God having a heart's desire. The only thing I knew was that I had to fear God and love God. When I was 14, I got regenerated in a particular denomination, and I stayed there for about one year in the Sunday school class. After a year, I left this denomination due to various reasons, but mainly because I was just not interested in what they had to offer. At 17, my mother brought me to a meeting of the local church. I was so attracted by the church even after the first meeting. I began to hear about the riches in the Bible I had never ever heard about before. It was so different. I was not only attracted by the messages, I was also attracted by the songs we sang. I knew at that moment that I had found the right place. This was my home. This was where I belong. This was where God wanted me to be. Another thing that attracted me was that I saw many believers in the meeting stand up to share their experiences of Christ. There was a spontaneous flow out of their rich enjoyment of Christ in their daily life. It was a rare phenomenon elsewhere. I was so surprised and kept on asking myself What is this? I have never seen anything like this before. Later, it became clear to me that all the believers are members of the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:14-31), and each member has its function and portion of Christ. Not long after meeting the local church, there were two couples who took turns to take care of me and my friends. They opened their homes to us. Every week, we went to their homes. We sang songs and read some portion of the Bible and books by Watchman Nee or Witness Lee. We also asked our questions regarding the Bible, and the couples would answer them for us. The time was really sweet. After the meeting, they would drive each one of us home. The atmosphere of the home meeting was so sweet and their care for me and my friends was so genuine. If it was not the love of the Lord, and the care of the Body of Christ, what else could it be? I love the local churches, they are my home, and this is where I belong. The church life is wonderful. A line from Hymns, #1238 says, Never did I dream before, such a place could ever be found, where the tears of sorrow cease, songs of endless joy abound...I'm in God's own family now.
